Dave Mitchell

Dave is a graduate of Simon Fraser University, and is a Director of the Justice Institute of BC Foundation. He is a member of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and the Fire Chiefs Association of BC (FCABC) and since 2004 he has also been a member of the Kwantlen University College Public Safety Communications Advisory Committee.Dave Mitchell is an emergency service professional with more than 46 years’ experience, commencing with Vancouver Fire/Rescue Services in April 1966 where he retired as Division Chief of Communications in July 1988. He became E‐Comm’s first Director of Operations in August 1998 and as part of the founding management team he shared the commissioning of the building, recruited the dispatch management staff and oversaw the transition of 911 for three regional districts as well as call taking and dispatch for the Vancouver Police and RCMP ‘4‐3’ detachment in 1999.

In June 2000 he left E‐Comm to become an independent consultant, providing advice principally to fire departments in BC, Alberta, Ontario, the Yukon and Northwest Territories. He also worked with the Honourable Gary Filmon reviewing the 2003 BC Forest Fire Season and with the Office of the Fire Commissioner in the development of the fire mutual aid plan for the 2010 Winter Games prior to rejoining E-Comm in May 2011.
