Mike Thomas, P.Eng.

Senior Consultant

Mike Thomas, P.Eng. is an electrical engineer with 25+ years of telecommunications and networking experience utilizing a wide variety of technologies. He also has extensive experience in business planning, design, implementation and operations of large mission critical networks and the physical infrastructure that supports them.
These networks typically provide the foundation that support enterprise applications such as SCADA, process control systems and other critical business services in addition to companies providing commercial services such as Internet, Ethernet services, Voice Over IP (VoIP), video and IPTV.

He has provided services for fiber optic and service provider networks, data center design, industrial process control and SCADA monitoring, education, equipment manufacturing, sales and support, as well as enterprise networking for large companies both domestic and international.

His expertise is the design and operations of the network infrastructure including structured fiber and copper cabling, power systems, long haul fiber optic design and construction, optical DWDM systems, detailed network design of IP networks and protocols, network hardware and software including routers, switches, security appliances, operational and business support systems and other components critical to the operation of mission critical networks.

Mike is well versed in industry leading hardware and software products, technologies and applications required to construct, operate and support these networks. In addition to his technical expertise at the network layer, he has experience with the physical infrastructure, such as structured cabling and the UPS power systems required to maintain a high availability network.

  • Mike Thomas holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Calgary.
