Tony van Wouw

Mr. van Wouw is a wireless communications expert conversant with transmission and switching techniques and a broad range of RF technologies with over 40 years of experience. His background includes extensive experience in microwave and fibre transmission systems, switching and network systems architecture.

Based on Mr. Van Wouw's prior work experience and training received as an officer in the Canadian Navy, he has been engaged in a wide variety of projects throughout the Americas, Russia and the Pacific Rim.

For the last several decades, he has worked as a consulting engineer for many of Canada’s largest telecommunications firms, resource extraction companies and public safety organizations as well as First Nations communities.  For many clients he has acted as the lead for upgrades in lifeline critical projects valued at millions of dollars and covering large geographic areas.

For Shaw Communications, he has been the principal engineer of record and has designed and installed essentially the entire Shaw microwave infrastructure.  This includes specialized designs to provide extra redundancy for 911 services in the Whistler corridor and on Vancouver Island for multiple communities.

Most of his project design and management is characterized by “hands on” engineering that ensures projects are completed in a timely and cost effective manner that exceeds client expectations.

Mr. van Wouw has also provided extensive training to telco and cable company staff regarding wireless communications and techniques.
