Duncan S. Sharp, P.Eng. is a telecommunications engineer with 35+ years of experience designing and implementing networks for both public and private sector clients across Canada and internationally in Asia, Africa and the Americas.
Prior to forming Planetworks as a founder, he served as chief engineer for Teleconsult Limited, a mid-sized telecommunications consulting engineering firm that merged with Deloitte Consulting.
His project portfolio covers a full range of networks (wireless, wire-line, access, transport, rural, international) and transmission systems (optical fiber, microwave, satellite). He has extensive experience with telecom infrastructure for the public safety, transportation, industrial and energy sectors. A career focus has been communications for rural and remote areas. Recent projects involved smart meter and smart grid communications deployment (examples include the emerging Internet Of Things) and optical network planning for industrial, utility and broadband delivery clients.
Duncan holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alberta and M.Eng. (Networks) from Simon Fraser University.
